Artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming part of everyday dating \u2014 helping people write profiles, compose messages and navigate difficult conversations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But what happens when AI enters a relationship that is supposed to remain secret?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To find out, Sasha7 surveyed 1,087 users of its discreet-dating platform<\/strong> about whether and how they use artificial intelligence in connection with extramarital relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The results suggest AI is already playing a meaningful role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

44% of respondents said they had used an AI tool such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude in connection with an affair or discreet relationship.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even more strikingly, 18% said they had used AI to help explain suspicious circumstances to a spouse or partner<\/strong>, while 14% said they had used AI specifically to make a discreet relationship harder to discover.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Key Findings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd39 58% of respondents who had used AI<\/strong> said it made managing a discreet relationship easier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udd39 Respondents under 35 were approximately twice as likely as respondents over 45<\/strong> to report using AI in connection with an affair.<\/p>\n\n\n

AI Is Becoming a Relationship Assistant \u2014 Including for Affairs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The most common use of AI was relatively ordinary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among respondents who had used AI in connection with a discreet relationship, messaging was the dominant use case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are people using AI for?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Among respondents who reported using AI:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • 70%<\/strong> had used it to write, rewrite or improve messages<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 59%<\/strong> had asked AI what they should say or how they should respond<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 48%<\/strong> had used it for relationship advice<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 34%<\/strong> had used it while planning a date or encounter<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 41%<\/strong> had used it to think through scheduling or relationship complications<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 32%<\/strong> had used it to help explain suspicious circumstances to a spouse or partner<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • 25%<\/strong> said they had used it specifically in an effort to make the relationship harder to discover<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Respondents could select more than one answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The findings suggest that AI’s role is not limited to generating flirtatious messages. For a meaningful minority of respondents, it has become a private sounding board for navigating the logistical and interpersonal complexity surrounding an affair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Nearly One in Five Say AI Has Helped Them Explain Suspicious Situations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    One of the most striking findings was that 18% of all respondents<\/strong> said they had asked AI for help explaining a situation connected to an affair to their spouse or long-term partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The survey did not ask respondents to describe the specific explanation they generated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    However, the result highlights a relatively new role for generative AI: acting as an always-available adviser during sensitive interpersonal situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Among respondents under 35, 24%<\/strong> reported having done this, compared with 11%<\/strong> of respondents aged 45 and older.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    14% Say They Have Used AI to Help Keep an Affair Hidden<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Respondents were also asked directly:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cHave you ever used an AI tool specifically to make an affair or discreet relationship harder for your spouse or partner to discover?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    14% answered yes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A further 7% selected \u201cprefer not to say.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The survey did not ask respondents for concealment techniques or specific methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Instead, the question was intended to measure whether AI is beginning to play a broader role in maintaining secrecy around extramarital relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Younger Respondents Are Using AI Far More Frequently<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Age produced one of the clearest differences in the survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This pattern broadly reflects the greater adoption of generative AI among younger internet users, but its presence within discreet dating suggests that AI-assisted relationship behaviour may become increasingly common as today’s younger users age.<\/p>\n\n\n

    Does AI Actually Make Having an Affair Easier?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Among respondents who had used AI in connection with a discreet relationship:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    21%<\/strong> said AI made it \u201cmuch easier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    37%<\/strong> said it made it \u201csomewhat easier.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    35%<\/strong> said it made little or no difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    7%<\/strong> said it made the situation more complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Combined, 58% said AI had made managing a discreet relationship easier.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    AI-Written Romance Raises Another Question: Who Is Really Talking?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    AI’s involvement also creates questions around authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Among respondents who had used AI to compose romantic messages, only 46%<\/strong> said a heavily AI-edited message still felt completely like their own words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    39%<\/strong> said it felt only partly like their own message, while 15%<\/strong> said an extensively AI-written romantic message did not really feel like it came from them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    That creates an unusual paradox.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    AI may make intimate communication easier while simultaneously making it less personal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Will AI Change Infidelity?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Respondents overwhelmingly expected AI’s role to grow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    When asked whether artificial intelligence would make extramarital affairs easier to conduct during the next five years:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    64% said yes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    17% said no.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    19% were unsure.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Generative AI is unlikely to create the motivations that lead people to seek relationships outside their primary partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What it may change is the infrastructure surrounding those relationships: communication, decision-making, advice and the ability to manage complicated interpersonal situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Methodology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Sasha7 surveyed 1,087 adult users<\/strong> of its discreet-dating platform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Responses were collected anonymously between July 1st and <\/strong>September 1st 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Participation was voluntary, and respondents were not required to answer every question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Respondents were located in America, Australia, and Canada <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Because respondents were users of a discreet-dating platform, the sample should not be interpreted as representative of the general population<\/strong>. The survey was specifically designed to examine AI use among people using a platform intended for discreet relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Percentages may not total 100% because of rounding and, for questions allowing multiple responses, because respondents could select more than one option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
